15 years ago, I started working with vintage & antique Japanese textiles, kimono & obi, repurposing them.
Creating one-off pieces, working at a relaxed pace, without a plan as the textiles presented themselves.
Moving closer to the source of these exquisite textiles made sense.
January 1st 2016, we relocated from Sydney to Kyoto, seeking a fresh creative purpose after many years working in the fast paced fashion & textile industry, producing seasonal collections , wholesaling Australia wide as well as globally.
Kyoto was an obvious first choice to get acquainted with Japan.
Loving life in Kyoto, but missing being close to water, we discovered the immensity & beauty of Biwako,
Japans largest fresh water lake. So began our search for a traditional Japanese home close to the Lake. Eventually finding the perfect house in Shiga, an area of Japan with a rich history in textiles.
Vision
Living here now for the past 7 years, has been life changing and immensely rewarding, restoring the house and barn as well as the recent completion of a bright new separate Studio.
I look forward to sharing my extensive textile collection with you, my many years of knowledge & experience in this newly, purpose built Studio & private Student residence on the Shiga property, a mere 40 minutes north of Kyoto.
“It’s comforting to me working with luxury & antique textiles, they come with so much history.
They have their own character, it’s a collaboration…
then we arrive together, a finished piece.”
